[UEH 50 Global Partners] UEH Expands Strategic Partnership with Missouri State University (USA) in Education, Research, and the Development of an International Academic Network

On May 27, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Missouri State University (MSU) to promote collaborative opportunities in education, research, and the development of an international academic network.

Representing UEH were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen – Rector of UEH College of Business; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao – Vice Head, Department of Research, Development and Global Engagement; Dr. Nguyen Tan Trung – Head, COB Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Phuong Vy – Vice Dean, School of Finance; along with program directors from undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the School of Finance.

Representing MSU were Mr. Brad Bodenhausen – Vice President for Community and Global Partnerships; Ms. Dandan Liu – Executive Director of International Partnerships; and Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Yen – Director for Southeast Asia Partnerships.

At the beginning of the meeting, leaders from both institutions delivered welcome remarks and shared their strategic visions for collaboration between the two universities. In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - President of UEH, emphasized UEH’s comprehensive internationalization strategy in the new development phase, aiming to become a multidisciplinary, sustainable university with regional influence in Asia. Accordingly, UEH is actively expanding its global partnership network, promoting interdisciplinary research collaboration, developing international academic programs, enhancing faculty and student exchange activities, and strengthening connections with the global business community.

During the joint discussion session, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on their academic strengths and high-potential areas for collaboration. Discussions focused on educational and research initiatives aligned with the strategic development orientations of both UEH and Missouri State University. In a spirit of openness and a shared commitment to sustainable development, the two institutions also expressed their mutual agreement to continue further discussions as a foundation for implementing concrete collaborative programs in the near future.

Overview of the discussion session

Within the framework of the 2026 - 2031 cooperation period, UEH and MSU aim to foster collaboration in research, academic and training activities, student and faculty exchange, academic program development, and international network expansion. In particular, the two universities aim to develop and implement dual-degree programs, notably the 1+1 Master of Finance program, to broaden international learning opportunities and global experiences for students.

A special highlight of the event was the UEH Flag Journey ceremony, marking an important milestone in UEH’s development and internationalization journey throughout its 50 years of establishment and growth.

The collaboration between UEH and MSU not only marks the beginning of a comprehensive partnership between the two institutions, but also opens up new opportunities in learning, research, and professional development for faculty members and students from both sides. Through strengthening knowledge exchange, resource sharing, and co-creation activities, this partnership is expected to enhance academic value while contributing to sustainable development goals in the context of increasingly globalized higher education.

Furthermore, the establishment of this partnership with Missouri State University is expected to provide a strong foundation for UEH to continue expanding its international partnership network, improving educational quality, promoting scientific research activities, and gradually strengthening its academic reputation on the global stage.
